Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to as Winona Ryder is a native of Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her on her home town. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father was from her Jewish family. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sibling to Jubal & Sunyata. When Ryder was only seven her family relocated into Mendocino County California. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder was an avid reader who spent all of her time reading a book because there was no television. In 1983 when she was twelve, Ryder took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. When she was 15, Ryder had a chance to play in Lucas her first big film. Ryder was bullied in high school. Ryder had hoped that her profession as an actor would be able to make a difference. It wasn't to be. However, she continued to pursue the goals she had set for herself. The year 1988 saw her breakthrough role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played successful roles for several films. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated at the Academy Awards. One of was for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence.
